Add the second grown-up

This is for the grown-up inviting a second adult to share the household.

Send the invite

To invite an adult:

1. Go to More.
2. Tap “Manage family”.
3. Tap “Invite an adult”.
4. Enter their address in the email field.
5. Tap “Send invite”.

On a computer, Family (or Settings) sits in the sidebar instead of More.

The address must not already have a CubbyJar account, and only one invite can be pending per address at a time. The invite works for 7 days. While it is pending, the address appears under “Grown-ups” with the line “Invitation pending” · “Expires {date}”, next to “Resend” and “Revoke”.

They accept

The invited adult follows the “Join the family” link in their invite, fills in “Your name” and a “Password” (at least 10 characters), then taps “Accept invite”. No separate address confirmation is needed, the link already proved it.

Equal rights

There is no owner account. Every grown-up sees and can change the same household data. Each grown-up also picks their own “Appearance”, found in the “You” section of More (Settings on a computer): “Light”, “Dark” or “System”, under the heading “Appearance, just for you”. As the app puts it: “Each person picks their own. It follows you, not the family.”
