Set up your household

This is for the grown-up setting up the household. It covers creating the account, confirming your address, and where the household’s settings live afterward.

Create the account

On the sign-in screen, tap “Create a family”. The “Set up your family” screen asks for “Family name”, “Your name”, the email field, and “Password” (at least 10 characters). Tap “Create account”. You are signed in right away, with no separate first-login step.

Confirm your address

A confirmation email arrives with a link to confirm your address. The link works for 3 days. You have 7 days from sign-up before CubbyJar asks you to confirm it to keep using the app. If the link has expired or you cannot find the email, the confirm screen has “Send a new link”.

Where things live

On a phone, the five adult tabs are Home, Accounts, Kids, Budget and More. On a computer, a sidebar replaces the tab bar: Home, Accounts, Kids, Approvals, Activity, Budget, Reports, Imports, Categories, Family and Settings.

The More screen shows your “Family code” and “Currency” directly. Your household’s name, time zone and currency live one step further in:

1. Go to More.
2. Tap “Manage family”.

On a computer, Family (or Settings) sits in the sidebar instead of More.

Under “Household”, tap the “Family name” row to change the name, then tap “Save”. “Timezone” is taken from your device at sign-up, and “Currency” is US dollars. Neither can be changed in the app yet.
