Approve or send back a chore
Create a chore with a value and a picture, let the kid mark it done, then approve it or send it back with a reason. Approved chores pay out on the next payday.

This is for the grown-up creating and approving chores, with a look at what the kid does in between. It covers building a chore, the kid marking it done, approving or sending it back, when it pays, and deleting a chore.
Create the chore
To create a chore:
- Go to Kids.
- Choose the kid.
- In the “Chores” section, tap “Manage”, then “Add” (or “Add a chore” when the list is empty).
The form is titled “New chore”. Fill in “What is it?” (up to 60 characters), pick a “Picture” from twelve options, and set “Pays” (0 means no pay). Choose “How often?”: “Once”, “Every day”, “Some days” or “Every month”. Toggle “Required” if the chore is expected (a required chore left undone by Saturday is counted in the Sunday “Required chores missed” push and the weekly email), and “You check it” if you want to approve it yourself. Turning “You check it” off means it earns as soon as the kid marks it done.
The kid marks it done
On the Chores tab, the kid opens the chore and taps “I did it” on its own screen. While you decide, it carries a “Waiting for a grown-up” tag.
Approve or send it back
The Approvals inbox lists every done chore across all kids. On a computer it sits in the sidebar; on a phone, open the Kids tab and tap the approvals card, which appears whenever something is waiting. Each chore offers “Approve” or “Send back”. Sending one back opens “Send it back”, with a required field, “What is still missing?”, of at most 140 characters. The kid sees “A grown-up sent this back” with your reason on the chore, which gets a “Try again” tag and stays on their list until they redo it. The same inbox lists the kid’s waiting asks under a second heading, “Money to approve · N”, and the phone card, the sidebar badge and Home’s “Waiting on you” tile count both; see ask a grown-up for money.
When it pays
Every approved chore with a value above zero is added to the kid’s next payday as a line carrying the chore’s name. If a payday is already open when you approve, the chore waits for the one after that. The value is locked in at the moment you approve, or, with “You check it” off, the moment the kid marks it done, so changing the chore’s pay later never rewrites what already happened.
Deleting a chore
From “Manage”, tap the chore to open its edit form. “Delete chore” asks “Delete this chore?” and explains: “Days already done or earned stay. Future ones go.” The same form has a “Chore is on” toggle; switching it off keeps the chore but adds no new days and removes the future ones.
